Ellen & Jude

“Jude and I met a bit before the pandemic. That break from everyday life helped us to focus on each other and really solidify our relationship. Fast forward to December 2022, Jude proposed with my dream ring. We enjoyed an 8 month engagement,  while trying to plan our wedding. It was a bit stressful for me doing this while trying to balance a new job. We both wanted a small wedding with just family and a few friends, so we chose a Tobago venue to keep things as intimate as possible. Jude and I designed the digital invitations ourselves.

The décor

The venue that we chose was surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty, so I really wanted to keep the décor simple. However, it was always my dream to have fresh flowers at my wedding. I ordered my flowers from The Floral Bar by Sanvish and they were amazing. My dad made an extra trip to Tobago just to bring all my flowers in his van. It was risky, but it worked out in the end! In Tobago, my aunts created some stunning arrangements. We had over 1000 fresh roses, carnations and an assortment of greenery.

The dress
I got my dress made two weeks before the wedding! My mom has made most of my clothes throughout my life, so I wanted her to be the one to make my wedding dress too. I visited a few bridal stores hoping to find inspiration, got carried away and ended up buying two wedding dresses. As the wedding date grew closer, I still had doubts about what to wear. Then, I came across this ivory brocade like fabric that was sitting at home for over 15 years. I always thought it was beautiful, but when I saw it again, I just knew this would be my dress. It was just about 2 yards, but my mother was able to work her magic. My wedding dress cost nothing, but it was priceless.
For my bridesmaids, I wanted different shades of pink. So, I let them choose whatever they wanted to wear. The assortment of styles and shades looked beautiful but still cohesive.
Our day was one we will never forget. The many hiccups leading up to and on the day melted away because of the magic of the day. We re-live the moments often, through our pictures and videos. “ – Ellen
