Marie & Andre

May 12, 2018

Marie & Andre are your typical unconventional couple, and their wedding reception was a reflection of their unique personalities. After years of knowing each other and then almost seven years dating, the decision to marry was only natural. They both started with different ideas for what the wedding should be, but the common denominator was that they wanted their guests to have a good time and curry had to be on the menu. Their civil ceremony was done during the week, which left the couple ample time to rest and prepare for the reception celebration on the following Saturday.

Marie wore a simple dress, purchased from Zoryana Stekhnovych in Paris, France, and Andre wore a modern Nehru Indian suit, with complementary Louis Vuitton purple loafers. The Bridesmaids wore gorgeous dresses from VAR Bridesmaids Boutique and the Groomsmen sported Indian-inspired garb, to match Andre’s ensemble.

Andre wanted a party, but Marie had enough influence to include some more traditional elements of a wedding reception! What ensued was a perfect mixture of both their desires. Pier 1 was one of the first options for location, because of the ambience and memories of partying it held for the couple. Their simple, rustic décor created the atmosphere for the night. Centerpieces which were designed by Marie, combined wood, lights and wine bottles. The whole look came to life with the help of the team from Keith Austin Creative. Due to the oilfield influence in both of their lives, the tables were named after oilfield platforms in Trinidad. Each table included a brief summary of the location. The cake was influenced by the rustic theme, and the creation executed to perfection by the talented The Brown Box.

The fare for the night included pholourie served in brown paper bags, samosas, curried meats and vegetables and Indian sweets. Adding to the memorable taste of the night’s dishes was the presentation of the food. Dinner was served on Sohari leaves, and the pepper sauce and kuchela in hand-cut bamboo bowls from Caterer Rishi Ramoutar of C&J Restaurant, who also hand-crafted edible spoons to serve the condiments.

Drinks flowed all night thanks to Victor’s Sports Bar of Marabella, and guests partied until midnight. Guests had the convenience of vanity kits in the restrooms, and slippers for tired feet, to ensure that they had everything they needed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. A coffee station and servings of dhal were available for persons to sober up before heading back to their homes.
