“My name is Trishala and my husband’s name is Shivan. I went to St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Joseph. Shivan was actually one of the boys who transferred into Form 6. He was one year above me at school. After he completed high school, I didn’t see or hear from him for quite some time. He also wasn’t very active on Facebook or any social media, so I didn’t quite know what he had been up to. I completed high school and got accepted into UWI’s Medical Program in Barbados. I remember feeling extremely excited to be given this opportunity but also nervous about being out on my own, not knowing anyone in Barbados. Little did I know that our paths would soon cross again. Day 1 of classes had begun and here I was, hurrying to my first class. I turned into the main lobby area and guess who I ran into? From that point on, we became great friends, seemingly always around each other. The attraction was there, no doubt. Friends come and friends go but there was something special between us, a friendship that seemed destined to become much more. As the friendship evolved into a relationship, we found that nothing in this world made more sense. We were soulmates.
Fast forward to a few years later and we’re at our wedding day, February 25th, 2018 at Drew Manor. Perfection doesn’t do it justice. We firstly chose our Wedding Co-ordinator, Events by Tricia who made all of our wedding dreams come true. She guided us through every step and did a fantastic job! She recommended Brian Pantin of AbFab Events as our decorator and she couldn’t be more accurate with suggesting him as part of our wedding day. Brian was perhaps just as excited as we were when we were pitching our ideas and fantasies of what we had envisioned as our “perfect wedding.” We put our full trust in Brian and didn’t see a single piece of his decor until the day itself and boy oh boy, he didn’t disappoint! We had chosen to have a Disney-themed decor with the colour scheme of red and gold. There was emphasis on red roses, as those were the first flowers that Shivan had ever purchased for me. My favourite Disney item that Brian created for us was our table centerpieces. It was the red “Enchanted Rose” from the movie, “Beauty and the Beast.” Brian did such an amazing job. Our guests could not stop talking about it. Disney fans at the wedding fell in love with the idea of finding all the hidden Disney gems that we had sprinkled around the decor. Overall, between the fantastic management and staff at Drew Manor, the ability for Tricia to coordinate all of our vendors and Brian’s phenomenal decor, we had the most magical wedding we could ever have hoped for!” – Trishala
